about

being not doing began in 2007 as a personal website to document my path through the world, wherein I aspire to be and create more, while doing less. Four years later, it is still a personal website, with more focus on the work I’m doing to bring my commitments to social justice and nurturing space into my art practice and my daily life. Gardening is one way I engage these issues; attention to issues around ethical food production and consumption is another. With the arrival of President Obama, I had hoped that national party politics would (again) become a source of creative and intellectual energy. Sadly, that wasn’t meant to be.

The banner photo is a view of the Loughros More Bay, over the top of the town of Ardara, in County Donegal, Ireland. It was taken by me in 2005, from a sheep path above town, while swinging on a gate.
